Our objectives in 2010
-
IICD’s strategy is based on advancing ICT-based development
programmes and stimulating knowledge sharing on ICT for
development. In 2010, we aimed to round off implementation of our
five-year strategy for 2006–2010. This strategy was based on three
goals:
- Embedding. Integrating ICT into the strategy and day-to-day
operations of partner and end-user organisations to secure long-term
sustainability and independent use of ICT for development
- Harvesting. Gathering experiences in the use of ICT for
development and distilling lessons for knowledge-sharing and
accountability purposes among partners, policymakers and development
partners in the South and the North
- Leveraging. Expanding and replicating project experiences on
a greater scale at the national level in order to reach multiple
end-users and significantly increase impact.
|
-
Our main objectives directly related to our work in the countries
were to:
- Guide at least 50% of all IICD-supported projects to the
independent continuation phase.
- Reach 850,000 end-users and 6.5 million
beneficiaries.
- Expand training to include at least 2,200 project
staff and end-users. This ensures the sustainability of ICT-based
activities and supports the long-term and active participation of
end-users.
- Promote learning and the exchange of experiences among
partners with a minimum 50% participation rate. This was
achieved through thematic networks and monitoring and evaluation
activities.
- Document experiences and lessons from at least one
innovation project per country and one leveraging programme per
country.
- Support, together with local partner organisations,
theimplementation of nine large-scale ICT4D programmes at the
sector level and at least one large-scale ICT4D
programme in each country.
- Introduce novel initiatives based on the use of
notebooks, PDAs, mobile phone applications in our programmes.
- Introduce affordable and shared connectivity solutions, as
well as energy efficient and low-cost energy solutions in our
programmes.
In addition we also aimed to:
- Become a better learning organisation
- Maintain an excellent working relationship with the Dutch
Directorate General for International Cooperation
- Acquire additional funds
- Prepare the multi-annual programme for the Connect4Change
consortium (2011–2015).
