Gender was the focus of one of IICD’s Cross Country Learning Events (CCLE) in 2009. IICD-partners came to The Hague in December to exchange experiences on
how information and communication technology (ICT) can help address gender
equity and women empowerment issues in development. The event brought together
partners from Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana,
Zambia, Ecuador and Bolivia.
“All the information we shared
enables us to start thinking through how to be more proactive,” said one of the
participants. “Learning from the success stories of others helps us improve our
activities and add innovations.” Participants were also inspired by each others’
stories. “I particularly learned a lot from the example of Burkina Faso
that uses puppets in television broadcasts to discuss topics,” one of the
Latin-American participants said. “It makes me think about using videos in my
project too to discuss rights issues.”
